Fatigue Risk Management Systems
The latest CARAC Part V Technical Committee meeting
was held on March 9th and 10th in Ottawa. The meeting
was extremely well attended, and quite lively.
Many thanks to all of CAADMO’s members who sent
letters to CARAC and/or CAADMO. As you know, your comments
were incorporated into a CAADMO “Position Paper”
which became part of the Decision Record for the Ottawa
meeting. Our Position Paper, along with that of AEA
Canada, and commentary from various other “alphabet”
groups and concerned organizations, helped have NPA’s
2004-010 to –014 withdrawn by Transport.
We haven’t seen the last of this issue. TC is
determined to move forward on this topic, though I think
the Technical Committee was able to convince them that
it should be as a part of the overall “Safety
Management System” rather than as a stand-alone
(burdensome) system. I believe that another Part V Technical
Committee meeting will be scheduled in the very near
future to revisit this issue.
Membership/What’s New
Not much has happened in this area. What with Fatigue
Risk Management and “business in general”,
we haven’t had much time to devote to CAADMO recruitment.
Anybody who runs into a potential member could help
us out by spreading the word. Let us know if you require
any CAADMO literature and we’ll send it your way.
